No way to adjust volume in iPad outside of multitasking?

In iOS 10, you could bring up the control centre to adjust the volume.

Now with iOS 11 on my iPad pro, to access the volume controls, it seems the only way is to enter multitasking mode, which minimises the video you are currently watching. Which seems quite disruptive to the whole watching experience.

Or am I overlooking something?

@Abazigal you don’t miss much when it comes to iOS so I doubt this is an exception. What’s wrong with the hardware buttons though? Increments too large perhaps?

I am using the poetic quarterback case on my iPad pro, which has a clip on top for my Apple Pencil. Thing is, when my apple pencil is attached, it covers the two volume control buttons. I can press down on the apple pencil charging cap to activate the volume up button but I am afraid I may damage the cap over time. Volume down is out of the question. So I have using control panel to manage my volume all this while.
 
Hey Siri lower or rase volume (xxx increments/half/full/mute etc.). For some reason this works great in some apps but not as well in others. Some you must press the Home button and other will not work. So it is hit and miss. Of course this stops your video for a couple of seconds but it is hands free and another option.

If you're watching a video, usually the video player will have volume controls. You can usually bring this up by tapping on the screen to bring the controls into view. Using control centre in iOS 10 for volume while watching a video was already an unnecessary and interfering step which (made worse by the new method of access in iOS 11, of course).

Not for the Twitch and ProTube apps.
