My father has a lot of notes that he needs synced to his iPhone. Is there anyway to do this at the moment? I understand Leopard will have Notes built into Mail, but he needs this now, as it's very important.

Any kind of solution is fine... thanks! :)

Apparently you can email the notes from the phone - so that's going to be the easiest solution, just email them to his own address.

Unfortunately, Leemo, that's not the question P0intblank asked.

The answer, P0intblank, is that there is currently no way to sync notes to the iPhone. I feel and share your father's pain. I can only assume that Apple will redress this shortcoming soon, as it's fairly simple and absolutely vital. One possible temporary work-around would be to use the Address Book for short notes.

I probably didn't make myself clear - what I meant was that he could create notes as emails, then have them in a folder on an IMAP server, and access them that way - as email.

some people are creating the notes as contacts and syncing that way.

yup this seems to be the best way to do it right now.

Taken from some online thingy:

Syncing notes with the iPhone

One of the major limitations to the iPhone's Notes app is that you can't sync it with data from any application on your Mac. There's a work-around, however -- each contact has a notes field. So create a fake contact and paste any info you'd like to keep with you in the notes field for that contact in Address Book. One sync later, and all that info will be at your fingertips.

Hope that helps.

Well it seems like this is my only option. I'll suggest making them as contacts to my dad and see what he thinks. At least it seems to be temporary...

Mostly due to the fact that everyone feels Apple will be resolving this soon, no one wants to step up and start doing anything about it in the meantime. As of right now, its clearly known that when you sync your notes on the iPhone, it gets backed up into a SQLite3 database that then sits on your computer's hard drive. If you were able to edit this database, you could concievably "sync" your notes from other areas, etc, etc. Someone could write a small application that let's you edit this on your computer... but again, this could all be made a moot point tomorrow, and it would be a wasted effort.

Despite nightcap's comments, the email suggestion is a good one... but you can take it a step further. If you're using Yahoo, anything you save it there will be available on your phone later, without sending it to yourself or anything... just keep resaving the draft. You can even create new folders, and those folders will appear in your Yahoo mail on the iPhone too. Very easy, rich formatting, etc, etc. Try it out. You can make a list of "NOTES" and those notes will always be available in your iPhone, even without syncing. If you don't want it thinking you're trying to compose it everytime you open it, you can drag it out of drafts into another folder, to make it "read only". If you need to edit it again, drag it back into the drafts folder.

I'd suggest Google notebook, but its got spotty Safari support right now.

Hope that helps.
