There used to be a way to turn off iCloud, now all I see is a way to delete it.
I don't want iCloud and Apple tricked us into signing on without telling us, which is really Microsoft behavior, IMO
I also don;t like the flashing blue line that follows around when I type, it distracting to someone with poor eyesight and covers up part of the last letter. It used to be thinner and black, any way to get that back?
facebook has also been wonky but overall it seems faster than Ventura

If you don't want to use iCloud at all, I believe the best way is to sign out of iCloud in the settings of each device you own. Of course, some services might be unavailable after logging out

how did apple 'trick you into signing on' to icloud? on my mac mini, i get a window when i update the OS, asking me to sign in... it's my option. you can't be signed in unless you, at some point, signed in.

otherwise, what @fwmireault said above; simply sign out of any devices you want to be signed out on.

That's the thing, I don't see that option, only to delete it.
There used to be an option to turn it off

They said to sign in for music and icloud. I saw music and clicked before I noticed icloud. It should be separate, imo

Telling me to sign out of iCloud is like telling me to unsubscribe to a magazine I never subscribed to. Apple just grabbed my id and siphoned stuff over. 👎 It's theft I tell you... plain and simple theft! 🙄

I have never been signed into iCloud on macOS or iOS.

Solutions:
- Easy – do not sign into your Apple ID during the initial configuration or from System Settings. Sign in from the Apple app you use. I only log in from the App Store on iOS and macOS.

- Intermediate – disable iCloud features with a configuration profile
13 allowCloud settings set to false

Profiles can be created with

Apple Configurator https://apps.apple.com/app/id1037126344
ProfileCreator https://github.com/ProfileCreator/ProfileCreator

- Advanced – With SIP disabled, you can stop iCloud launch agents and daemons from starting

You can also go into your active iCloud account and choose which app uses it. Be that on a Mac or or, say, your iPhone.

If, say, you don't want your Contacts on your Mac sync'd thru iCloud and over to your iPhone.

If you don't want to be in iCloud, sign out.
I'm always signed out, with a very few exceptions.

I did not know to turn off my apple id and Apple up and siphoned personal information and pictures... I was furious. I turned it off and in 30 days, if they keep their promise, they will delete what ever is left. I never had it before I got my Mini, and I never wanted it.... so presumptuous of them. Gives them so much more control over your life.
