I've been trying to find the new iPad mini 6 in stock in Canada and it's been OOS everywhere.

I am seeing so many posts saying they are returning their iPads after trying it out.

I personally appreciate Apple's no question asked return policy but they should implement some rules so people don't buy them to 'test out' and return them. There are actual customers who are waiting to get their hands on these devices.

Just my rant.

I'm pretty sure Apple manufactured more iPad minis than the few hundreds of people trying them out then returning.

Besides, it's not like Apple can tell beforehand who's going to be returning and who's going to be keeping their iPads.

Return policy like this actually benefits more people than not. Apple devices are expensive, and such policy allows customer to make somewhat informative decisions before shelling out big cash. Out of stock problem is not because of this policy, but because Apple does not control their production in a way that might benefit you by chance.

I doubt Apple's return policy is making any real difference here. Their return policy is already super low at 14 days when most retailers are 30 days and some even 90 days.

And besides... People should be able to try out these devices and return them. Apple devices aren't cheap!

You'll get yours eventually. No worries.

A lot of people are returning the Mini because of the scrolling issue which they didn’t know about until they purchased the device (me included). See the thread on it in this forum.

You should move to,the Philippines where it’s next to impossible to return anything. Electronics are non returnable. Clothes you get interrogated just to return them and speak to a manager lol.

Sure a lot of people in small tiny community on the interwebs filled with apple loyalists and super fans who upgrade $1200 dollar phones every year. Yah a lot of them alright.

So where's your site of "a lot of people". We really don't know the number, it might be 10, 100, 1000, 10,000, for all the info we know. Only Apple can say and they haven't.

Anyway, I'm not returning mine. No reason to. watching the screen that closely while scrolling isn't something I do, so even if my Mini 6 has it, I won't see it, nor would it bother me if I did.

The reason it's out of stock is because it's selling.

So In return with the same logic the refurbished store should burst in two weeks time, right?

I’m personally glad the return period exists and I live in Canada myself. Stuff is likely not in stock in stores because a good chunk of the business is done online and the pandemic pushed that tendency for sure.

Apple’s employees themselves actively remind their customers of this return option as well, that at least is my experience having visited multiple Apple retail stores around the GTA. It’s part of their sales pitch and probably here to stay.

I think they take a bit longer than that --- and likely are artificially held back if it's a product that's so new (to keep driving higher priced new sales)

They absolutely do! Nobody should chastise anyone for taking advantage of Apple returns, as they promote the heck out of it as a "buy it and return it if you don't like it!" - no problem! -- option
