I’m posting here because I don’t see any threads section here on Apple ID related issues.

I went to my Apple ID account and added two Yubikeys and then I received a confirmation email from Apple that my keys were added successfully.

Now, I was about to sign in to my iPhone using my Yubikeys and no credentials were found using the NFC.
Also tried it with my MacBook with USB-C same issues with BOTH keys.

The keys worked well on my Google account, but not with my Apple ID.

What could be the cause of this since I received an email that my keys were added?

Do you have any screen time settings preventing account changes?

I never use screen time.
How can I check it?

Both keys are not working and says credential not found on both my iPhone and Mac.

And I received an email saying that my keys were added from the Apple email.

I’m in a panic now. Please someone help.

Have both of your devices been updated to the most recent 16.6

The iPhone yes, but not the MacBook. I will do the Mac later today.
However, Yubikeys still not recognizing the credentials…

Guess I am screwed…..

The same keys are working under my Google account.
But my Apple ID won’t recognize them.

The thread you posted have to do with logging onto the device itself using security keys.

My issue is only with my Apple ID account.

I don’t use any hardware keys to sign in to my Apple devices. I only use the passcode and passwords for both iPhone and MacBook.

Im only having issues using my keys to sign in to my Apple account.

Just don’t understand why my two keys aren’t working when I indeed received a confirmation email from Apple that my Yubikeys were added. Unless the keys are damaged, but that’s very unlikely to happen.

So I guess I’m screwed unless anyone has more suggestions…

I got to say, that shame on Apple for not even having a second option to revert back to the SMS phone method to at least gain me access to my account.

Most of the email services at least provide an option to use a security key and a recovery option to revert back to the sms or have recovery codes in case things like this happens.

Remove the keys from security setting and youre back to the six digit code.

Chatted with Apple support and even sent them screenshot but they could not unlock or access my account. They told me to boot my MacBook into safe mode but I told them that it’s happening to all my devices….

Im not able to remove the keys because I can’t even access my account since it’s still asking for the security key. Still have the No Credentials Found error.

I learned a good hard lesson. Is to Not use anymore Security keys. Just unreliable…

From the phone, computer or an ipad, not the web account, just need the device unlock code to do this. The keys will then be removed from all devices and web account.

I did not even setup a recovery key from the Apple ID account under Security.

What do you mean?

You have setup two Yubikeys, and after that you got some kind of problem. Remove them Youbikeys from the security settings in the computer, ipad or phone, and you are back to the six digit code. No need to login to Apple ID account for this. No need for recovery key code.

Then try to add the Yubikeys again, if you want.

I am not able to sign in even from the settings app. I’m already signed out and when attempting to sign back in, no matter what I do it still asks for the security key.

Pls send me a screenshot of what you are asking f me to do.

It will not work because I signed out of my Apple ID before I was facing this issue.

Please post a screenshot on what is needed to be checked.

As I recall, I know I set this up using the NFC on my iPhone but I don’t see no Yubikeys under Privacy and Security.

Thanks

At the log in screen - look for a "forgot password" link, it may provide a work-around for your problem if you know the lock screen passcode.

In the browser version of APPLE ID or under the settings app?
And do I need to connect the keys as well?

Do I need to check it on both my Mac and iPhone?

Please note, that I was not using the Yubikeys as a login to my Apple devices.

The issue is that I was using the Yubikeys to sign in only to my iCloud and Apple ID.

This has nothing to with the way I sign in to my iPhone and Mac itself.

UPDATE —— on the Mac I went to Settings and then Sign into iCloud/Apple ID. I entered my Apple ID on the Forgot Apple ID and Password and then after that it asked me for my trusted number and then clicked ok and then after that it asked for the security keys.
