Noise cancellation mode with one AirPod on Mac

Did anyone else notice that you could turn on Noise Cancellation by wearing just one Pod while connected to a Mac? On iPhone you need to wear both of ‘em but on a Mac you it works with just one.

This is on a late 2013 MBA.

I have done noise cancelling on one AirPods while using an iPhone.

It works from the Pod itself but not from the Control Center.
