Noise when connecting iPhone to charger

Hi,

my iPhones used to make a noise when I connected it to the charger but it doesn’t anymore.
When it’s in silent, it vibrates when I connect it but when the ringer switch is on, it doesn’t make any noise.

My iPad however makes a sound when I connect it.
Is this normal?
How can I enable the sound?
