Hey everyone.. I just bought my first iMac about two weeks ago. I haven't been able to use it too much since then because I was went on vacation.

Anyways, now that I have started to use it I notice that when I have a CD in the drive it makes a very noticeable noise. It makes the noise when it is reading the CD, but it is a constant noise. Also, it is different than the the noise it makes when the CD is spinning. Is this something that is normal or is something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Without actually hearing the sounds it makes, we can't really make a determination if the sound is "normal" or not.

However, in general most of those slim optical drives that Apple uses in the iMacs tend to be a bit noisy and make some strange sounds.
