Nokia Emphasiing Human "3G"

Here in Australia, at least, Nokia seem to be advertising heavily and the ads could almost be for the iphone. All very multi functional and spiritual.

Anyway, the tag line at the end of the ad is Nokia Human 3G.

They seem to be making as much as possible out of 3G- all phones in OZ are 3G so apart from spoiling iphone what's the point of even mentioning it as 3G is the stadard??. Ok its not on sale in OZ for a year or so but I suspect this is the start of an anti iphone campaign. Nokia stand to loose a lot.

I think most people in Europe and Asia would agree with you.

This is a very interesting time to be watching Apple.

I have a strong feeling, or at least overwhelming hope, that Apple will release a 3G version of the iPhone to the rest of the world after the US-only debut. Six months is a long time in mobile phones - I'm not sure how well the iPhone's current spec's will go down outside of the US, especially six months after the thing has been on sale!

Ok now, let's calm down. As tough and ego-shattering as it is to people outside the U.S., let's just learn to accept that Apple's focus is about 90% on the U.S. market. They're not putting nearly as much energy into marketing globally. I'm guessing it has to do with their tendency to micromanage, and their unwillingness to spread themselves too thin.

If you think it's really, really idiotic of them to do so from a strictly business perspective, well, there's $108.26 that says you're wrong.

I don't think anyone is not calm about this. I'm quite happy for the iPhone to be beta tested on the US market before the HSDPA-equipped iPhone 2 comes to Europe and Asia.

You'll all be locked into the two year contract with an out of date iphone then

I know apple doesnt have the biggest market share, but surely they're worth a bit more than $108.26. I assume thats in millions of dollars!

I bet they will...Apple not stupid. USA will get the iPhone as is, then later on the rest of thw world should get a 3G iPhone..and the US soon after

Ridiculous Australia-only marketing. What is "Human 3G"? Talking to the people in person?

I don't know what Human 3g stands for either but advertisers use 'human' when they want to convey something is more than a gadget. All rubbish but it's probably very effective.

To conentrate only on the US won't cut it in the world of the internet, multi nationals and globilisation.

I would be staggered if apple didn't anounce a 3g version.

Interestingly I read that Nigeria is going 3g soon...

I can't say that I've noticed the "Human 3G" advertising. Here in the UK the N95 is the latest major offering by Nokia and its strapline is "It's what computers have become"

Maybe Aussie only and the human 3g isn't the N95 just for Nokia in general. We have the thing in my pocket add too-I thought it was for the iphone at first!

It actually has to be 3.5G. Without HSDPA, it will be lame (even if there's still very little HSDPA coverage).

Nokia will even have WiMAX next year on some devices.

Agree 3g is now old hat . Saw an advert today for Samsungs new 3.5 g phones.
Making apple look out of date already. Whether in real terms this means these phones are that much better than 2.5 g is debateable but its all marketing and perception of consumers.

iphone may have the multitouch but phone companies need to have models at the cutting edge of all technologies to be credible.

iphone won't last unless they can update and refresh the models as quickly as Samsung, Nokia and the others do.

I really hope apple is up to this as I want to see them succeed. I'm fed up with the shoddy under developed offerings from these companies.The pace of the technology development inevitably leads to untested rushed products being released. It aint going to be easy for apple but if any company can do it they can.

The small print stopping you from upgrading all the time, like they expect people to want to do.

As for 3G. Yeah HSDPA is what is needed and no less. The iphone on release is kind of 2 generations behind good phones these days. Still think that grubby multi touch screen is groovy now?

I also agree with that. I'm not knocking the iPhone as I think the concept presented so far is pretty good (even if you ignore the snake-oil salesman toting it ). Apple do have a fight on their hands though to make it succeed.
