I would be interested in peoples thoughts about the new Nokia Lumia 630.

Today I was about to buy myself the iPhone 4s 8gb for 330€, because I want to go all :apple:

Then I saw the Lumia630 and its dual sim option at half that price.

I already own the Lumia 900 and I am happy with the phone itself, but the OS just sucks.

Your 900 didnt get 8.1? 8.1 is a lot better than even 8.0. My Wife has a Windows phone with 7.5 on it. Blah....compared to the newest OS.
Im waiting for the 930 to come out myself but the 630 looks nice for a cheaper phone. Much nicer looking and slimmer than the 530.

Lumia 635. Get it if it is available to you. Comes stock with 8.1 installed.

I can't wait for the 930 too for AT&T. I am almost tempted to get the Nokia icon on verizon...but just hate the exclusive they have with that phone.....

I was going to get one of these, to use in place of the 620 beloved employer gave me, but they use a nano SIM? (Nano as in the size of brain of the brain who made that decision, for a phone that's aimed at developing countries?)
The 630 accepts micro sims. Also sims can be easily made into nano-sims by just clipping them.

does 8.1 finally support vpn?
Am I still stuck to the marketplace of the country I happen to be in?
Those were two things that really annoyed the crap out of me.

If only it were so simple. For the developing world, they shouldn't even be using micro SIMs. Here in République démocratique du Congo, you can't get a combi SIM for love nor money. And the Nokia SIM card holder is really picky. A local cut SIM card, that works in my Nexus 5 Samsung phones, is rejected by my Nokia 720 (yet the local SIM that was cut in Zimbabwe, with a different cutter, works fine - there's too much of an element of luck involved).

go all apple. my life is amazingly synchronized and i love it. iCloud is amazing. having an email from @me.com too is really awesome because its not "branded" so heavily like gmail or something else, almost as if you have you're own ISP.

but why would you buy the 4s!? buy the 5s and keep it in amazing quality then sell it and buy the 6 when it comes out.

I completly understand where you are coming from.

The point with me is:
I use my phone mainly just as a phone. The ability to use 2 sim cards means quite a lot to me.
It means that I can carry around one instead of two phones.

I am terrible at keeping phones in amazing quality. Its pretty much impossible for me.

I dont see the advantage of the 5s over the 4s for my uses.

My life is amazingly synchronized with my Nokia Lumia Icon ;)
My contacts, calendar, and music all are on my phone. I'm able to use my @mac account which I like better then @me ;)

To be sure the level of integration is better with an all apple line up, but you'd be surprised with a little work that you can also achieve the same thing with a WP 8.1 phone.

i never owned a 4s but my 32 GB 4, which i kept in perfect condition got a little obnoxious to use (speed wise). although apple did release some updates that improved it slightly, nothing ran as smoothly as it should have.

as far as using a phone just as a phone, i think thats the least used process in my life :). the internet, test messages, music, camera... they all get used far more than actual phone calls... hell even my FLASHLIGHT gets more use i believe.
