The results were boosted by royalty revenues of 430 million euros in the quarter, including payments from Apple following settlement of a legal dispute.
Looks like the bit they got from Apple and others helped prop up Nokia a little but what a poor performance from them.

I wonder how and if the Windows Phone devices can turn this decline down.

Nokia said it sold 16.7 million smartphones in the quarter, falling behind Apple's sales of 20.3 million iPhones.

611 million dollars in royalties is nice.

I wonder how and if the Windows Phone devices can turn this decline down.

I think they had the same problem that Apple does each time a new iPhone is due out: sales of the old model drop like a rock.

In this case, everyone knows Nokia will be bringing out WP7 devices.

It sure is sad seeing one of my favourite mobile companies crash and burn. Windows Phone 7 should hopefully turn things around in 2012.
