I did the software update yesterday and since then I have been experiencing that the facial recognition is not working and the screen is unable to be swiped. Apple restored the phone yesterday but still occurring.

Thank you! I will be on the walk in line this afternoon for a replacement. Earliest available appointment was 2/27 in the afternoon.No issues on my X... I updated yesterday as well. Sounds like something went bonkers so I agree, I'd get it replaced ASAP.

This might be silly but did you trying doing a reboot? tap volume up, tap volume down, hold power button until you see the white apple.
Wipe the phone and set as new, try to see if that helps until 2/27. if that doesn't work then you definitely need your phone replaced.
