If I have absolutely no intention of running Windows on my Mac to play memory/graphics intensive games, is there any really need to run Windows from a Boot Camp partition, or will Virtualization (running Parallels or VMware Fusion while booted from my Mac OS) work just fine for my needs...

I am using a MacPro with 2x3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processors with 16GB of DDR2 RAM...

Aside from the slight (barely noticeable) dip in performance of the virtual Windows OS, are there any other advantages that I might want to consider?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

My experience with Fusion has been excellent. I can run a TradeStation trading app in the Fusion window (in one monitor), while I watch a movie on OSX (in the second monitor) with NO noticeable impact. In fact the Fusion performance is at least on par with my (retired) dual processor HP Workstation.

I choose Fusion over Boot Camp, because I want to operate seamlessly. Real time, best-of-class software running side my side.

You've got to be kidding!:eek::p

With the system you're currently running (16GB of RAM), there will be absolute negligible difference while running a VM or BC! So of course you should opt for VM!
