I'm an Arrandale MBP-waiter sucked in by the new apple product, and I'm really itching for an iPad now that the reviews are out and it's everything but a big iPhone.

Should I head in around 10am to attempt to grab one? I just remember all the potential wasted effort for all three iPhone launches where I just walked in and got one after the line subsided midday on launch day. I don't want to get up and wait in line if I don't have to...

What are you non-preorder guys doing?

...oh and am I insane in considering the 16GB? I'm gonna keep most of my music on my 32GB iPhone since that's always with me too, but i'm not sure if I'll regret getting just the smaller one. Decisions decisions....

you won't be able to pick up an iPad without a pre-order until 3 PM (at an apple store)..

If I didn't pre-order and had to get one tomorrow, I'd be in line at Best Buy super early.

I was told this over and over, to get in line, it's gonna be impossible until late or next week, but I walked in on all three iPhone launches. I'm gonna head in early and if not, I'll line up and wait.

:edit: also, where does it say that you can't get a non-preorder until after 3PM? Gizmodo claims sales of the iPad for preorders begins at 9am, and non-preorders begin at 10am.

That is not true. Call ahead, but I was told by two different employees at an Apple store in LA that there will be two lines at opening, those that reserved and those that didn't. At 9am the reserved line can start getting theirs. At 10am, the units above and beyond what are set aside for the reserves can start buying theirs. At 3pm, any reserved units not picked up are let go to the non reserved people.

And here's the Gizmodo story supporting what I just said.
