When the new iMacs came out, there was speculation that a third party manufacturer would sell some sort of kit which would allow one to replace the glass on the iMac with something less glossy. Has anything come of this?

This has been discussed before. My own view is that it wouldn't work - matte covers have to be in contact with the screen, or it makes the screen look blurry, and there's a slight gap between the glass and the screen on the imac.

Besides, when you actually use the thing, the reflections are barely an issue. Matte screens sometimes look worse even in strong light due to the glare.
