I'll try and keep this brief, I have 16GB First Generation Touch, out of warranty, and overnight the docking connector has stopped working, it was fine the day before and the Touch hasn't been dropped or anything, it won't charge or sync etc, I've tried different leads, connected it to a PC, Mac etc etc, everything obvious. I even reset the Touch (via the settings) to see if that helped and nothing. The battery is now flat.
I'm in the UK and Apple will send out a replacement as they don't repair that sort of problem but it's going to cost almost what I can buy a new one for any way.
As a last resort is there anything I can try? have googled but nothing productive has come up, I've checked the obvious things like the connector is clean etc etc.
Any help much appreciated.
