It could be.

Which programs/processes are you running when testing for core shutdowns?

um, was watching ghostbusters on hulu while poking around in excel. why?

it isnt the programs that are critical to diagnosing the problem, but rather just the core shutting down. i didnt notice much in the way of system problems besides some stuttering of the video (firefox didnt crash).

again, just wanted to ping the mba faithful to double check if this was indeed the issue (and if my expectations are too low as to how it should be performing sans shutdowns).

I've done extensive testing on my Macbook Air to try to test for core shutdown issues. Just curious if you were using software that I wasn't using.

Which version of Flash are you using and have you tried to use other software to recreate the core shutdown?

truth be told, any hulu video used to crash firefox after 20 minutes, regardless of what else was running, and without a second screen. i have still not upgraded to 10.5.4, but do believe the switch to 10.5.3 may have ironed out some of these issues. like i said, expanded desktop with excel running and now i merely get some video skipping/chatter.

i am not sure if i really want to go the whole coolbook route, though might be up for cracking the case in search of excess thermal paste. this is my first mac, and while i do like many things about the platform, i think the fruit company needs to step in asap and get this figured out.
