Hi,

I posted yesterday about my 1.83 17 inch first generation intel iMacs screen dying.

If we get an external display, is there a way to make that the main screen?

I don't think that you (software wise) can disable the internal screen, but you should be able to make the external display the primary display..

If you have an external screen attached, just go to the system panel -> displays and drag the menu bar shown on one of the two displayicons to the other and you are done.

your primary screen will be the external screen but the iMac screen is still active as a second display. kinda annoying but i don't think you can disable it like others have said

Ok, thanks for the help. One more question. Do you guys think its worth it to keep on using the iMac, its almost 5 years old, and is starting to slow down big time. We could get a monitor and a new Mac Mini, or get a new iMac. What are you guys opinion on this?
