I'm a new mac pro owner, I saw how upgradable these things were and purchased one 2 weeks ago. Its a 2009 4,1 Dual CPU model with Nvidia GT120 GPU, 4gb ram... Well Im an idiot and got the itch to upgrade it to a 5,1 immediately after I got it, and before I got the monitor I would be using it with. I hooked it to my Tv and started updating. I also got a Sapphire RX580 to go with it. After I got the monitor I upgraded to Mojave and put the RX580 in and I noticed the display just doesn't look right. It looks extremely dull and the pictures lack depth. The text is hard to look at because it is not crisp at all. I have the exact same results if I use the RX580 or the GT120, On my samsung display or my 65" Plasma TV. Its not the cable. I have used my windows laptop to verify its not my monitors. Both displays are crystal clear. I did not notice if the display was like this when I got the cMP in the first place so I don't know if the PCIe may be faulty? I took a screen shot from the Valley Benchmark tool...How screwed am I?

The Dock looks very sharp to me.

And the colour of your screen capture is very close to what I have on my Mac. (I am using the Colour profile for my own monitor. Therefore, little bit difference is expected between your setup and my setup).

Do you have another computer (or even mobile device) to check if your screen capture is actually OK?

If yes, then your cMP and GPU is rendering the picture properly, but the output is wrong.

If both GT120 and RX580 doing the same thing. Then the GPU themselves should be OK.

Since you mentioned TV, and GT120 has no HDMI output, therefore, the adaptor is the biggest suspect.

For RX580, HDMI is natively supported. But are you having the same issue on both DP and HDMI connection?

The screenshot looks perfectly fine here .

As said above, maybe try looking at the screenshot on a different device , to narrow things down .

Ok, The screen capture looks fine on my laptop. I used a Mini Displayport to HDMI cable for the GT12 to view it on the TV, and Yes I'm having the same issues on HDMI and DisplayPort on the rx580. I Use the same HDMI cable when checking between the CMP and the Laptop to rule out the cable being an issue. And the Laptop looks fine when displayed on the other monitors.
[doublepost=1554042664][/doublepost]I may have come to the conclusion my New samsung LCH27H711 monitor is garbage. Viewing the screen captures on my laptop look normal, when I connect the laptop to the monitor it looks like it does coming from the cMP. I messed with the settings on the monitor and was able to sharpen the text, Had to turn all of samsungs "fancy features" off. I can get the benchmarks to look better but not like they should. Things still look dull and really fake. Can anyone recommend a 24, or 27" curved monitor that they would vouch for?

Try direct DP connection. Your monitor should come with a DP - DP cable, isn't it?

I am also using Samsung curve monitor, no strange image distortion experienced yet. But I only use direct DP connection.

I ran it both ways. DisplayPort and HDMI, It makes no difference on the quality. Im confused though. I thought HDMI was only good for 1080p, It shows 1440p with either HDMI or DP, Would a monitor Upscale? Im taking a chance that i just got a bad display. Going to try another of the same monitor. All the reviews say its a beautiful display.

The RX580 has HDMI 2.0, which support up to 4k 60Hz.

If you want to know is it scaled, you can check here.

You may also try if different colour space make any difference.

What we know so far is both of your graphic cards should be working correctly on your cMP at this moment.
