I bought a 1.8 rev A (I think, 1.8 - 80 HD) on ebay, cuz I have the air envy.
I have been hours reading the forum, but is still unclear to me...

1 - Is there any other HD for the Air faster than 4200 (not an SSD) cheaper working nice SSD?

2 - My old MB was an C2D 2.0 w/ 2 GB ram 667 and 80 HD gma950, how slower is the MBA Rev A compared to my oldie?

3- Can I play quake live on a Rev A?

4- Any advises to keep it happy

5- What the best bag for the MBA out there?

6- is the LED display a big deal compared to my old 1? (My local store in Costa Rica think theyre selling diamonds so u cannot touch 1 for more than 10 mins....)

7- How long will the battery resist at full and how long at half dim ?

8- How bad is the internal speaker? as bad as mini 2,1 ?

9- How resistant is this skinny girl?

10- Air + iphone 3g , mobile dream team ?

11- Can I install using the Ethernet adapter?

12- What can I fix bfore it fails?

13- Rosseta performance?

14- Is youtube really unsuable on a rev A? (I have seem atom netbooks kicking ass on youtube).

15- Will I be able to listen my country music while chatting on adium and developing on dreamweaver or running a keygen on parallelrs ?

16- thank you, thank you :apple:

Hey, glad you chose the MBA... but Rev B would of been the better choice, i'm stuck with Rev A and im going to go insane!

1. 5400RPM... ask Apple Store to change it
2. Not much slower... you can't run 720P/1080P movies
3. No idea, never played Quake live.. but i highly doubt it, although on minimal graphic settings it may work
4. Don't turn it on... nah i'm kidding but unless you need to absolutely use the pre-installed software.... change Safari for Firefox and Quicktime X for Quicktime 7
5. http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/ho...inch_macbook_air&mco=MTM3NTc0NDk&s=topSellers
6. If you're old MacBook was a plastic MacBook.. the display will be loads better... a friend has the old plastic MacBook and i can see loads of difference... even with the same display config
7. Depends what you are doing... gone through 4 hours of lectures with full brightness... Airport and Bluetooth off
8. Shockingly bad
9. More resistant than you're old MacBook (presuming it's plastic) - although do not put weights on top of the closed MBA
10. Yes
11. Install what? OS - No, Software... if it is from Time Capsule connected via ethernet... yes... otherwise i highly doubt it... and what software comes on Ethernet?
12. Fix before it fails... everything with mine is fine... take out AppleCare if you are concerned
13. Same as standard Macs
14. Make sure your MBA is fully updated... 10.6.2 with Flash updates/use Firefox...it's fine now... or should be
15. Dreamweaver... seriously? it's not a powerhouse... Parallels isn't happy on my iMac @ 2.66GHZ... it works just sluggish... probs because i use quicktime, safari, itunes, parallels, keynote and pages simultaneously.... but Dreamweaver and Parallels simultaneously... nope matey, but one or the other, with the other two processes should be fine
16. It's fine :D

I am using the same thing right now... I upgraded to a 64gb SSD and it was night and day!

even with the HDD, youtube videos play just fine. The only time I run into slowdowns are when I'm running vista in a virtual machine. You would love the MBA if you have no need for windows.

I have the incase neoprene sleeve and it is perfect!... but that just protects it inside my messenger bag. I also have the invisible shield for the whole thing... a great investment for around $50.

Would you mind telling us what you paid for it?... I might be selling mine soon.

Yes It was a plastic....

I paid $860 + $26 UPS shipping... I sold the old macbook in $750 :D

Oh no! I meant... using remote disc over ethernet instead of the N network

So basically I will get kind of the same performance of the old MB.... ummm thats fine I wanted a light thing to carry... and pop out my friends eyes, Costa Rica is a PC zone

Um... Seriously?

1) No, the 4200RPM is the only option since it's a 1.8" 5mm high drive.
2) You can, theoretically play 720p movies, as long as the system doesn't overheat or vents blocked.
3) Quake Live is a web browser based game... you can run it fine even on the X3100 video card.
8) It's a single Mono Speaker, it's bad but it's not "shockingly" bad since it was expected to be bad in the first place.
9) Why not? I usually squish books of about 10-20 lbs on top without any problems.
11) OS, Yes. It's called Remote Install. Only OSX though, not windows.
15) You can run Dreamweaver and Parallels with a Virtual Machine without any problems. You can do as much as you do on the iMac on the Air without problems either, it'll just be slower but it should not be sluggish unless you're allocating way too much memory to the VM.
