I have 120 Gb space on my MacBook Pro but Big Sur (Public Beta) won't install. Says I have only 45 Gb and it needs 9 more? I have tried creating more space but 120 seems more than enough. I'll appreciate any advise.
i had this problem yesterday on my 128GB MBA, but with like 70 GB free. When I got to that error, I restarted the machine, and then re-started the installation process...and then it worked.
I see that I have ~120 GB on my HDD but that '81,23 Gb is purgeable'. That leaves not enough for the public beta install. How do I get rid of the purgeable memory and make it available for the install?

Same situation here. I bought DaisyDisk for $10 off the Mac app store, it identified purgeable, then let me clean it. Beta installation worked fine after that.
Would this be a one-off thing? Once I install public beta, the subsequent beta's should not have this much hard-disk space requirement right? If anyone is able to confirm this .. thx.
I finally managed to install this thing .. as suggested above, I downloaded cleanmymac app, used the maintenance tab and deleted the purgeable files; got enough free space and finished the installed.
