Does anyone have an opinion of Nordvpn as a security tool for a Macbook Pro?

I have it, and use it every day. It works. But it does slow the Wi-Fi somewhat. I use mine on my iPad and my iPhone

Does it cause any kind of intermediary to have access to your computer in any remote way at all? Or is it more like Norton on a PC?

Good question. I think the answer is: no. The hard part is who to believe. Other VPN app/services have said this in the past, only to be proven to be false (worst case: caught selling info).

...But I have not read through all of their info.

What I saw and read about (third party reviews) looked good for general anonymous web stuff. The built in Proxy function seems to work well when tested. IP detected is what and where Epic says it will be.

Easy to test though, if you have specific parameters to check. Download and give it a whirl.

I've had NordVPN for less than a day now on my Macs and already I'm very frustrated with it. It's quite possible that I am doing something wrong but to me an app should just do as expected and be intuitive. So far, I've been randomly disconnected or unable to connect (can be resolved by "jiggling the handle" so to speak). However, some features like Ad Blocker are only available on the OpenVPN version of the Mac client. And in there the "Kill switch" isn't as clean. But speaking of said "Kill Switch" reveals that it doesn't actually stop anything if you disconnect from the VPN. Not sure if that's a feature of a bug. If the app isn't supposed to actually stop internet traffic what good is it? Heck, even a notification like "hey, you are disconnected" would be nice. But no, I just find out after clicking on the NordIKE icon. Terrible app if you ask me.
