Has anyone figured out how to overclock the X1600 in Mac OS X yet? I have it working in Windows but I prefer to play World of Warcraft in Mac OS X. And running at 1920X1200 at max settings (minus filterings) the game slows down every once and a while, I would love to be able to get a 30% or so increase of FPS by raising the clocks close to what ATI specifies.

And yes I know the risk of over-clocking my mac.

Overclocking it is easy. Somewhere on ATIs website is the a driver download. I think it is a program called ATI accelerator. Anyway, it lets you software overclock it as well as change AA settings and other things.

AIBs or OEMs decides the final clockspeeds on every notebook after their thermal design. Even though several notebooks all have, let's say, an Mobility X1600 does not mean that they all fit within the same thermal design.

Hence, the clock difference either from model to model or from brand to brand.

In other words, the Mobility X1600 is not underclocked but rather clocked to fit within the thermal design of the MacBook Pro.

Can you show me the link, I looked and couldn't find it. ATICellerator 2 doesn't work on the intel macs, if that is what you are referring to.

Ah, shoot, I thought people had that working on the Intel Macs. Apparently they only have the GPU overclocked in Windows at the moment. Hopefully the accelerator will go universal soon.
