Normal Bettry Life?

Hey guys, I just bought a brand new MBP from the apply store and I just fully charged it, I'm getting 3 hors or so battery life, what's normal? Is there anyway to get 4 hours?

Also, it keeps jumping from 3:30 hours and 2:30 and floats in between :-????

It depends what you are doing at the time.

You can get longer battery life by turning down the screen brightness.

If I am using iTunes, have the screen relatively bright, and Airport on I get around 3:50. I am on a 17" MBP so I will get longer than someone on a 15", you can get 4 hours by putting your speakers to mute and turning down the screen as low as you can get it and still be able to see well. Right now I am 4 clicks up from off, If you don't need bluetooth or airport it's a good idea to turn them off too.

I just got it last night, and I got home and pluged it up and started using it immediatly, I get a feeling I should have let it fully charge.

I did let it charge over night though (around 2:30 am til 8 am) and it said it was 99% but after only 15 minutes it was down to 80? I think somethings wrong with my battery. I didn't calibrate it.

Alsom one final question, if I don't touch my keyboard atleast every 10 seconds my screen goes dim, this annoys me, is there a way to turn this off?

First I would try unplugging your computer and using it until the battery completely dies (it will go to sleep and you will be unable to wake it until you plug the power cord in) then let it charge up completely.

Second Question: Open Apple Menu > System Preferences > Energy Saver (make sure battery is selected) > Options tab and uncheck dim display before sleep.

Battery life is very dependent on both what apps you use and how you use them, to the point where consistent numbers are impossible to get. Even if you're just browsing the web, what sites you can use makes a big difference. Some myspace sites with insane scripts on them cause the fan to kick into high gear, for example. If you sit at one site for a while reading, then that's different than plowing through Google image search like crazy.
