I setup my iPhone 6S Plus as brand new (not restoring from backup)

Its on 9.0.2

Now I can't pe se complain about battery life cause i'm usually down to 50% by end of the day with my usage (which is very basic and no games are usually involved)

I've got everything enabled, wifi, bt, paired with apple watch, iCloud

now i've noticed my usage time is about 10min every 30 min of standby.

So essentially if I charged to full before bed and then I unplugged it, 8hrs later it would have a usage time of around 1.5hrs thats without me even touching it

Battery breakdown shows normal usage, safari 50%, Music, 20% and the rest 1-2%

I do use safari the most.

Any suggestions?

I hit 10hrs+ usage, 27hrs standby at 20% on day 2

Of which I really only used it the most 5hrs of onscreen time.

get rid of background app refresh completely, disable it via master toggle.

if u have any voip apps, log out of them when finished or uninstall them (for testing), use push for email not fetch leave fetch on manual, dont be playing music in the background (obvious), disable preload top hit in safari, disable use cellular data for everything (app updates, safari reading list, icloud drive, itunes etc), dont use photo stream or icloud photo library etc

if theres a difference itll take time & ull have to start from full charge again. im assuming ur in constant cellular coverage. if u dont have a content blocker for safari, get one, now.

Yup constant cellular but wifi is on whilst I'm home.

As I mentioned I'm not losing much battery as a result of it.

Ill turn off background refresh and test

Just use your phone and don't worry about battery usage?

Unless you're going to be away from power for an extended period of time then I'd look at disabling things. I often wonder what the point of having a smartphone is when people disable everything that makes them smart..

There's too many variables involved to know what "normal" usage is

I've always switched to 2G or 3G because 4G reception in my area is mostly terrible. This and switching off Bluetooth (which also disables Handoff) has increased battery life on all my phones. NOTE: 4G is supposedly more secure, so if you're communicating state secrets that's probably your best choice :)

Other than that the suggested background refresh stuff is a good idea. I've disabled it for all games and non-essential apps. I've basically only got e-mail, messaging and ticket apps enabled there. Stocks, weather, notes and navigation don't need to use the network when you're not looking at them.

During quiet weekends on standby with some SMS incoming, I've had an iPhone 6 get 3 hours per 1% battery. A 6s shouldn't be terribly different under the same conditions.
