 CD got stuch in Macbook drive, Apple sent me Compusa, they couldn't get it out, have to send to Apple, expected time back 3 Weeks.

Since it had to be sent to Apple, also let them know about Fan Noise (Mooing) and heat problem. Will be interesting to see what's fixed.

Back to the HP Notebook. Never had this type of problem on a Windows machine:rolleyes:

I would call Apple up and see if you could get a loaner machine since yours is going to be gone for so long. I don't see any reason it should take that long to simply get a CD out, so they should be able to accomodate you.

Besides, it never hurts to ask.

i suppose it doesn't. i'd be interested to hear from someone who was successful in getting a loaner.

AppleCareLess has just returned my Macbook after, wait for it, 4 weeks. And they've done jack-**** to fix the faults on it. Disgraceful service.

The upshot is after speaking with Customer Relations they've agreed to send me a replacement.

Be very careful before sending Macs off to Apple at the moment. I'd try and use a local authorised repair centre, so at least if they start taking too much time you can go and look them in the whites of their eyes!

Not usually, but asking for one sometimes gets you a replacement instead of a fix, which is usually good.

Other than the Stuck CD and Mooing / Fan Problem, the Macbook is in prestine shape (no scraches, no dead pixals).

Would you take the gamble of a refurbished replacement macbook?

I have gotten numerous loaners paid by apple when my machines we being repaired. when my iBook was busted, I got a 17" PB for three weeks, when my 17"G5iMac needed a new hard drive, I got a 20" imac for two weeks, when the other 15"pb had a video card issue, I got a 17PB for four weeks. all paid by apple...

You're in the VAST minority.
