hi all, I have a late 2006 Xserve and I'm running 10.5.8 and I have 4 updates, 2x LOM, OSX and Itunes, I have tried several times to download LOM and Itunes updates, they download and install OK, I then reboot the server and again the same version and update appears in the "software update" screen.

When the password is required I put this.
Not sure what is going on, the only one that I have not tried to download and install is "Mac OS X Server Update Combined"

Should I need to install this one first?

any recommendations please?

also is possible to upgrade to a newer version of OSX? maybe 10.6 or should I need to buy this?

thanks

You can upgrade to 10.6, or even to 10.7, which is the newest OS X version you can run on your 2006 Xserve.
You can purchase either 10.6 or 10.7 at the online Apple store. I can't say if you can get them through your country's Apple store, that may vary.
10.6 here, 10.7 here
If you need the OS X server version, that's a separate install, and Apple doesn't sell the older OS X Server installs, as far as I know. You can find OS X server installer through your normal find-everything-on-the-internet, like Amazon.com, or Ebay, etc.

If the "Mac OS X Server Update Combined" appears in the Software Update window, I would suggest that you let that download and install. Uncheck all other updates, just install the combined updater by itself.
Once that update installs, and you get a restart, run Software Update again, and pick up whatever else is available through Software Update.
If your server makes updates available to other Macs, and those are incorrect - I don't know how to handle that. Someone with more OS X Server experience may be able to help. I think all you really fix with Software Update is to make sure that the built-in apps and system software are all up-to-date.
