Hi,

since iOS 10 it is not possible to save pictures from web content in safari when they are wrapped in a link.

Do you experience the same issue?

Can you save this picture for example?

Seems to work fine here with iPhone 6 running iOS 10.1.1.

But you clicked first on the link.
Are you able to save the picture you see in the macrumors post? (the small one - thumbnail)
Were you able to that before in iOS? The picture there is a link essentially so the options for the link would come up rather than the picture.

As far as I remember, it was possible in iOS 9. Because I can see in my photo library some news article header pictures I must have saved in iOS9 and now I am not able anymore. The news site also has a picture embedded in the link to a news article.

Works on the iPhone, doesn't work on the iPad.

I use Firefox in those cases.

Nope. I need to open the link first.
However, could you save my screenshots without opening a new tab?

yes. Because your screenshot is not "a link". It's an embedded picture.
So in iOS 9, system provides this feature to "deep-link" image and save it directly, while iOS 10 does not allow you to do so. Oh, "deep-link" means save that linked image without entering that website.

I want to save the Image I see on the page.
I could also link the cat thumbnail to www.google.com and still I should be able to save the picture.
