not as major imac problems but still concerned

Hey everyone,

I purchased my iMac Dec. 26th,2009 (week 51). I don't have a yellow tinge, dead pixels, or flashing. However, I have discovered that sometimes my computer will start this weird tinking/clicking sound out of no where and I don't know how it starts to do so (like it isn't even overheating). The last time it started this noise was when it was on for about 2 hours and I had watched some TV episodes. I've already contacted Apple Care and they told me its something wrong with the hardware and I should take it back to the original store it was purchased at. Thing is I purchased it in Delaware but I live in Maryland. Now I'm going to go to Delaware this weekend but I'm not sure if I should even hassle to take it to the store because what if they don't hear what I experience and I just wasted my time? The noise is really loud when it comes on and it can be clearly heard when I tilt the computer all the way back. It sounds like its coming from the lower right corner but I'm not sure. At this point Apple Care knows all about the problems and they have expected me to get a new computer... I know that I could probably demand for a replacement but after that I won't be able to and who knows it could be worse.Plus, I can't leave it to them overnight because I have to go home for school and such... So what is my best option?

If Applecare told you it needed to be fixed, I would replace it. You are still within the replacement period for iMacs bought in December. If Applecare tells you on the phone that there is a problem, they will not question it in the store. Did you explain your situation to them ? I think if you ask politely they will set up an appointment for you, when you will be in the area. Ask them to have the replacement in the store ready for you to pick up and take with you.

Well, when I contacted them I wasn't really 100 percent sure whether or not I was going to Delaware this weekend but I am and they do know every detail about this problem. I already schedule an appointment this weekend on Sunday for the clicking and ticking noise. I just started to hear the sound as I post this message. My computer has been on for 3 hours but it was really only used for about 1hour and a half because I fell asleep lol. So 98% of the usage is during idle and somehow the sound started to trigger. I took the time to use my camera to record 3 videos and hopefully it shows as evidence because who knows what will happen at the Apple Store over there....

you can clearly hear this ticktickclickclick sound (well at least i can...) and sorry if its really shaky i tried my best.

after viewing these videos should i even exchange it for a new one even though apple care told me to do so? i remember one of the apple associates telling me i could only exchange it once and after that i'm doomed.

Vtran, would you be able to make a video without any background noises, moving about the camera, using the mouse or keyboard, or moving the screen? Kind of hard to figure out what your problem is, with all the sounds created by the above.
