All in all Safari is not a bad mobile browser honestly its probably one of the best. I just hate having everything saved and synced in Brave then opening a URL in an email only to load the page in Safari then copy and paste it over to Brave. It just seems so inefficient. I get that every 3rd party browser is essentially a skinned version of Safari but this seems like even more reason to give users a choice. Interested if anyone has any counter arguments to leaving Safari as the default.

What's really the point of using another browser when all browser apps on iOS/iPadOS use the same engine (as you mentioned)? It will probably never happen but I think that's a bigger issue than not being able to set it as default. I've run into different websites that are working fine with Chrome on Mac just fine while Safari (on both Mac and iOS) is either not supported by the site or it was badly optimised for it.

Some people like using a common browser across multiple platforms but Safari is not supported on Windows and Chrome is.

Exactly, stuff like syncing open tabs or bookmarks since there is no Safari for Windows anymore.

Chome desktop to Chome app does this all natively.

In my opinion it should be possible. Especially on iPadOS. I’m using Outlook and it’s annoying when I’m tapping to an email address and getting the message that I haven’t the mail app on my phone or iPad.

Only not sure if it will be ever possible that browsers could use their own engine.
