Hey all. Any idea why I am getting this message when it’s plugged in and using the supplied cable? This is a M4 13 inch for reference. Never seen this before. Thanks.

Whichever place you get power from doesn’t provide enough power, that message will pop up. E.g. if you try to recharge your iPad through a USB-A to USB-C cable and USB-A side is connected to a PC or one of those 5W charging bricks.

This usually means it's not receiving enough power. Are you also using the included power adapter, or something else?

Makes sense thanks all. It was indeed sharing a power adapter so once i removed one cord it began to charge!

I recharge my flip phone, and my wife charges her iPhone using a charging brick. It works fine. I wonder why the difference. (I’ve never tried this with my iPad.)

Power delivery. 5W in vs 20W in is a notable difference. iPad has much bigger screens and more powerful processors etc to power, hence the power draw is greater. You feed iPad 5W power, it might not even be able to break even, let alone charging.

Do you have the 80% Limit turned on? If so, it will show this message if plugged in @ 80%.

FWIW, your iPad was likely charging (albeit very slowly) notwithstanding the "Not Charging" status report.

I routinely see this when using old chargers or non-standard/defective cables that I happen to have at hand. The iPad gets charged, if it's not being used intensively; it just takes much longer.
