I'm helping a friend with his iPhone 4S and he keeps getting a message saying his iPhone
can't be backed up because there's not enough icloud storage. You can manage your storage in settings.

Can someone give me ideas as to what he should do? He said he only has about 100 photos and not many applications at all.

Look in the iCloud storage area under manage devices and se if he has old devices there taking up space. Just delete devices he no longer owns.

I don't see anything under Manage Devices but I did look under Manage Storage. I deleted his current back up and let it back up again and it stills says his backup is 4.8GB in size even though it doesn't quite add up. This is his first iPhone and he hasn't had it very long so I'm not sure he'd have any old devices taking up space unless its somewhere I'm not aware of.

If you look at the size of each application and the amount doesn't come close to 4.8GB's. The biggest one is 1.2GB for the Camera Roll the rest a small 700kb files.
