Hi all,

Have an Apple Watch Series 3 GPS on the latest watchOS. I realized I haven't been getting any Breathe reminders, even if I set it to 10 times a day.

Did some research and this seems to be a very common issue. I checked the wheelchair settings and made sure it was on "No". Also, I do get Stand reminders. It really is just Breathe reminders that aren't working.

Has anyone been able to fix this? Or is it just an issue with watchOS?

Thanks!

Another forum member mentioned this information quoted directly from Apple regarding the Breath reminders:

We have new requirements for Breathe Reminders in watchOS 4: - user must be sedentary for a period of time - user must not have an event scheduled in their Calendar - if a user does a workout or another Breathe session, the next Breathe reminder will be rescheduled.”

Thanks for the quick reply. I do remain sedentary - I sit at my desk - and I don't even use Calendar or workouts.

I get one breathe reminder a week if I’m lucky. But I get my stand reminders.
Why does our calendar matter? If I have 15 mins before a meeting, it wouldn’t hurt to do some breathing. But even if I have nothing scheduled, it still doesn’t work.

I keep forgetting to breath and i'm passing out like 20 times a day... Even when I get the breathe reminders, I'm usually passed out from not breathing earlier. What a waste of money for my Apple Watch when I'm only conscious 2 hours out of every day.

Pretty much in the same boat as you. I get a random breathe reminder once or twice a week, and then sometimes I may not get a single one for two weeks. I do get my stand reminders as well though.

Was waiting for someone to make this same joke again...good work!

Well, I hadn't heard it yet and thought it was pretty funny :0)).......Seriously though, I think I must get the ones that you all are missing, as my watch seems to be constantly reminding me to breathe. I was actually getting a little annoyed by it, but will try to be more appreciative from now on

Same as you. I occasionally get one, sometimes in the middle of the night. But it's once a week at most and none of the tricks I've tried have been successful. I'd find the reminders useful and hope they are able to reliable implement soonish.

I sent Apple feedback on this issue. I think it broke when they added the following conditions to the reminders:

"If a reminder coincides with an event in your calendar, like a meeting, if you're moving or exercising, or if you start a session on your own, your Apple Watch reschedules your reminder. You’ll get the reminder a short time after your event is over or you stop moving."

That's a bizarre addition. The whole point of the Breathe app is to take a break from your busy life and focus on your breath for a minute or two.

I can understand not wanting a breathe reminder during a meeting, but I always put my watch/phone in Do Not Disturb for those situations. Wonder if this is Apple bending over backwards to fix an issue that isn't really an issue.

I get my stand reminders every hour, no problems. I used to get the breathe reminders.

I've seen other posts from last November where the person contacted Apple support and after a month or so Apple says they are working on a fix...so...where is the fix?

Will people die if their watch doesn't remind them to breathe? How did people survive for so long without apple watch to keep them breathing??
