Not getting SMS "verification" texts, but everything else is fine?

I don't use SMS 2FA with any important accounts, of course, but often times it'll just be used to verify your phone number on sign-up for a new service. For months now (T-Mobile, east coast US, iPhone X, iOS 13.7) I have not been able to receive any of them. At first I thought it was just something wrong on the sender's end each time, but it's become an easily noticeable thing over time where all texts (even from numbers outside of my contacts like businesses for normal communication) come through, but specifically not SMS verification codes... I thought it was the carrier at first, but haven't found any settings through T-Mobile that would be blocking this. Anyone ever had this, or figured out what to do about it?
