Any ideas? My iBook G4 has kaput. The fan went into hyperdrive and now when i turn it on all i get is green/red/grey alternate screens. Something serious has happened but what??

Can you still see anything on your screen? Does your mac still work? Do you have enough money to buy a new mac? Do you still have Apple Care and if you do contact Apple. Here is a guide if you want to replace anything in your iBook G4.

This might be a long shot but try re-setting the PRAM.

Ewwww , did you see any magic smoke leaking out? Once the magic smoke is let out of a component it will never function again.

On the slightly more serious side. That sucks! I would think that given the age of the unit that you would be better off buying another laptop, through ebay for a low cost replacement or buy one of the newly released MB from Apple (definitely the pricier option)
