Not happy with 10.10.4 update!

Just installed the 10.10.4 update overnight.
Reboot this morning & it has installed Photos, annoying but no biggie, BUT... then without asking it starts to convert my iPhoto library.
Photos sucks big time, I've already removed it once, but where the frak does Apple get off with the software automatically doing this???

i do not see that anything at all has changed since 10.10.2!

I guess they never will fix the app store The same three apps (iMovie, Xcode, and Onedrive) will forever be stuck in Limbo, and update every single day.

Photos does not launch on its own by default. I wonder if you started it once then accidentally checked "Open at login" (right click in the Dock) and now it wants to start at each reboot.

I have the "Stuck in limbo" problem were the same three apps download and intall every day. I is a pretty common problem.

I think I have seen that issue once. I can't remember which app though. What 3 apps are you referring to?

Interesting. I have iMovie and Xcode installed and have not experienced the repeated install problem with either on any of my computers. Wonder why it is a problem for some people.

EDIT: I see in post #3 you did list the apps.

The problem "went away" somehow. I manually deleted Xcode, and iMovie, but kept OneDrive. All three formerly were "stuck". I am afraid to re-install. I do not want the problem to return.

You can also try applying the 10.10.5 combo update. Sometimes that helps. I only install updates using the combo update.

The install you get via the Mac App Store/Software Update is a delta update meaning that it will only look at the differences between your system and the new update and only sent you the differences. That's why the combo update is huge in filesize and the one via the MAS is rather small. Using the full install helps in some cases where people run into issues after installing the update via the MAS.

Yes that makes sense.

Exactly where this "update limbo" problem came from is quite a mystery. All I know is it is gone. iTunes, and OS-X 10.10.5 updated in the 14th.

I have no plan to ever upgrade to 10.11.x. I will not risk it. I realize a lot of people are into the cult following, but this whole mac thing has been like a "bad first date". It works now. I see no need to fix anything.

My iPad and phone are asking for 8.4.1 No thanks, I will pass. They are working the best they have worked since IOS 7.3 or so. I am not going to risk messing that up.

Stick with what you find works best but do review the security issues that come with running an older OS (the 10.10.5 and 8.4.1 fix a lot of security bugs/leaks; among them quite a few used in jailbreaking).
