Iconoclasm doesn't have a trial period so I bought Iconoclasm to get the 3x3dense look that I though I'd like on my 1st page. I have page 2 set as the default 4x5 which Iconoclasm didn't have despite being i5 compatible. I think that's a little crappy but it really became an issue when it kept putting my phone into Safe Mode after every respring and in Safe Mode it removes JB apps from Settings. So I uninstalled Iconoclasm and then Googled a i5 4x5 layout to fix these issues.

That kept the phone from going in to Safe Mode but opening folders is broken. The phone doesn't adjust correctly to let me see the apps in my folders. I have parts of the names or icons of apps cut off. And in other folders I have apps that I can't even get to! This is pathetic!

What's wrong? Did I waste $3 to find out this isn't set up to work correctly or is it something that I didn't configure correctly because I seem to be the only one thoroughly upset by this app.

Edit: added a pic at the bottom for what's wrong.

I used iconoclasm and the iconoclasm layout pack but it didn't want to play with my folder enhancer tweak so i uninstalled it.

Have you though about iblank as an alternative.

That's weird, I've had no issues using Iconoclasm, Iconoclasm Layout Maker and FolderEnhancer together.

Yeah I've spoken to others who have had no issues too.

For me when i had the 3x3 dense layout and tried to move an app from my folder onto the springboard it crashed to safe mode and also within my folders i could not move the apps around within it !

Defo weird !!

Do you have springtomize?

OP: Hang in there. Email the Dev. I got immediate response from him before. Until then...

Yes. Iconoclasm is a little problematic in it's latest iteration. It will cause re-springs if you:

1) Put more icons on a layout that won't hold them (so putting like 16 icons in 3x3 layout will cause a re-spring)
2) Use a layout that isn't there (for example, assign a layout in settings, then delete it through iFile)

Knowing this, I've worked around the problems and do use Iconoclasm with FolderEnhance with good result. I've got a 1x4 custom layout (with 16 extra icon positions that I don't use) on my home page, a 4x5 layout on other springboard pages, and a custom 4x5 layout for FolderEnhancer pages (modified so the title and page dots look right).

The problem that I had with iBlank was the blank icons would always be tap-able so would interfere with other widgets on the home screen. Also, it's difficult to make the layout look "just right" with them being locked to fixed pigeon holes. With Iconoclasm, I can bump the icons around by 1-pixel until I get it the way I want it. I used purchased Gridlock too, but I like Iconoclasm for its customizability.

Ooooooo, how do you move icons around by pixel with iconoclasm, been trying for ages to get my homepage icons to exactly match my dock icons to no avail.

I think it's called iconoclasm layout maker. You can make and save your own custom layouts.

I've had no troubles with iconoclasm on my iphone 5. I don't use folder enhancer or infinifolder though.

A couple of ways:

1) GUI

I highly recommend Iconoclasm Layout Maker (I'm using v1.7.0). It's not by the same author but it works well. You can tweak layouts all from your iPhone. It's free.

2) CLI

If you're good with the command line, another way is to modify the layout files directly. Layout files are in the /Library/Iconoclasm/Layouts directory. Layout guide is here: http://r-ch.net/iconoclasm-layout-guide.html.

All in all, I use both methods. I rough in a layout with the GUI, then tweak it as the CLI with VIM. If VIM is not your thing, just copy the files to your local PC and edit them that way.

Oh btw, the Iconoclasm Layout Maker looks like it only does "Freeform layouts", but thats okay by me. I can still do "Grid layouts" by hand if I want.

Actually, with layout maker, you can hold down on an icon, then type in it's x and y coordinates manually.

Thanks guys, I know about layout maker, just thought you were saying there is a way with iconoclasm. The trouble is, I don't know the coordinates of my dock icons (I have 3 set with infinidock), so matching the sb icons would be guesswork. It's a shame iconoclasm doesn't extend to dock icons.

So here's a screen shot of the issue. The app folder doesn't shift down to show the last row of apps in the folder. As you can see the names are also cut off. Again, is this a jacked up setting I haven't done right or just an issue with the app? Because using these really nice layouts are useless if I can't use my folders.

Same issue here.
