Not P***ed off with release of new MBP

I bought my MBp in March (2.16Ghz 1GB RAM etc) and for the first time ever I'm not gutted that I didn't wait a few months for the new MBP.

I've never had a laptop that just does everything so well. And as somebody who spends their day teaching Windows Server 2003 and networking courses I can sit there and, well, just laugh at people trying to put visita on their 6 month old laptop and get nothing but problems.

Best of all, since I bought my mini in February 2006 I've managed to convert 10 or so people to the world of Apple (around 7 have seen the light since I have shown them my MBP)

Still, looks like I may have to get another MBP for the wife, well OK she can have my old one and I'll have the new one :)
 
Agreed Scott. Your MBP will be fine for a few more years yet. My PowerBook is 3 and a half years old and is still a dream to use. Enjoy what you have ;)
 
Nice topic - certainly a change around here from the usual winge-lead ones ;)

I got my 17" MBP in December, and I'm not annoyed in the least. I think it's a nice step up, but with Tiger I really think the hi-res screen would make the text (especially in BBEdit and Terminal) just too small to be comfortable.

I'll probably upgrade once Leopard starts shipping, as 1920x1200 will be awesome with the new resolution-independence, and hopefully the screens will all be LED by then. Plus it'll be cheaper to have 4gb of RAM; at the moment it's prohibitively expensive I feel. The 2gb in this is fine for most things, except maybe running Parallels with XP and Aperture at the same time :p

Can't say I'm bothered by bluray/HDDVD in the slightest until we have either a winner or a combo drive. But please, Apple, give the MBP a latchless closure, I'm jealous of my MacBook brethren!
 
Of course you can be happy with it. I have a 2 year old powerbook and it fits most but not all of my needs, so why should a 3 months old machine become obsolete in a couple of hours ...
I do a lot of photoshop on my machine and now I am considering to do the step forward. As a mater of fact a real pro machine should even be better but I like the portability. Now I'm trying to convince my 85-years old father to replace his wonderfull blue dalmatian for my even more wonderfull laptop. It's exactly the machine he needs, he will want to take it with him when he goes to his appartment at the coast and he will be able to run the applications he's used to. On the other hand I'm anxoius to push him into a new machine since he has a lot of stuff that maybe won't work anymore. Anyway, if he wants it I won't hesitate to buy me such a new machine.
 
i got my C2D macbook pro in january. At the time i was worried about MWSF but that turned out to be a non event as far as for the macbook pro. I am really not that bothered about the new mbp.
the only thing that would have annoyed me would have been a change in form factor i.e. magnetic latch. this hasnt happened so im a happy bunny, and i believe that its going to be hard to beat the current design, hence why it hasnt changed in so long.

Heh that would be interesting..... a teacher of windows with a Mac on his desk...... bet that inspires the students that have spent a few thou to be there :p
 
I got my MBP 4 weeks ago. I was upgrading from a core due MB and at the time I needed to get it despite knowing a new MBP was on the horizon. I'm not disappointed at all, my MBP does exactly what I intended it for (running Adobe CS3) and I couldn't be happier.

Besides in October when Leopard is released it will be like getting a whole new computer again. :)

You would be stunned (or maybe not) at the number of my students who show a keen interest in my MBP.
 
Mmm what a nice thread.

I'm writing on my G5 which has been a loyal computer for nearly 4 years...and while when my laptop arrives it'll be sent to the gallows (cruel, I know), knowing how much longer it could realistically continue as my main computer has kept me strong while waiting for this MBP upgrade.

It's not going to be easy to give it up, actually.
