I bought my first Mac a MacBook Pro 17" Core2Duo 2.33 2GB/160GB/Glossy screen right before XMAS. Its awesome but too large for my taste. I'm out of the 30-day return window so I need to figure out the best way to get into a 15".

I was thinking of the following..

1. Trade for a similar 15" MBP & get some cash out of the deal.
or
2. Sell my 17" and buy what I want (I would consider a refurb 15" this time)

I'm not sure which option give me the best advantage. I have everything down to the shipping box that came with the laptop. Its excellent but the 17" is just too large for me.

Thanks for any advice. dp

I know that feeling. I got a 17" as a replacement from Apple for a 15" and feel it's too big. However, it's also wonderful to have that huge screen and the penalty in terms of size and weight is not really thaaaat much. I also just get a sense (no hard evidence) that the 17" have less issues generally. The only think I'd think twice about is the quality of the display. If you don't mind the 15" grainy displays, then I think you should sell it and buy what you really want. I doubt you'd be get any cash from a trade, but if you can and the other machine is in the condition you want, then I like the idea of trading. Perhaps you can trade without cash for a 2.33ghz 15" with some extra ram or something? Good luck!

I checked earlier today and there was a 15" 2.33 C2D refurb...not sure if it's still there. There was only one.

I say do it. Sell it on craigslist. You'll save a load of money.

I kind of with I had the quality of the 17 inch on my 15 inch display. Other than that we have the same computer. Anyway the 17 inch isn't that much bigger really, its only about 1 inch wider or something no?
