are you missing the adapter or are you just unable to wait 1 minutes for it to transfer? I don't get it...
Would you rather have this be slower over a wireless connection? I see many uses for wireless sync (i.e. everytime I have like 3/4 songs to sync over) but I don't see this as a time when I'd necessarily prefer a wireless sync. Perhaps I'm missing something.
I think you are missing something in my case at least. My Macbook is in my home office which is two flights of stairs below my cozy bedroom where my iPad lives. Are you really asking me to climb 2 flights of stairs and fish for a usb cable over a simple matter of transferring a few gigabytes of files when I could let it all happen wirelessly on my 802.11n network when I'm in no hurry anyway? So I can get my calendar and contacts wirelessly by paying $99 a year for mobile me, but I'm expected to deal with a usb cable for everything else. That sounds a bit too much like 1995 to me.
I took a look at the itunes app on the iPad. While I can buy a huge app and have it load wirelessly from the app store, I cannot wirelessly back it up to my Mac and I cannot go in the iTunes app on my iPad and buy music directly over wifi? Maybe I did something wrong and didn't find the purchase button but usually Apple makes it oh so easy to send them money, I honestly think that the only way they want me getting music on my iPad is via a cable. Tsk tsk tsk.
I don't want to have to change rooms to sync. Wireless sync works excellent on the zune. Its a really great way to sync podcasts. Since the iPad is approaching a laptop in functionality, surely wireless sync should be implemented. Roc nailed it.
Must admit have thought this since iphone day 1. If an appletv can do it why not the iphone os devices?

its amazing how an entity as astute as apple is most of the time, can sometimes make what seem to be these ill-conceived, way out there kind of arbitrary decisions, that without a doubt had their genesis after a particularly long and strong hit off of a water-pipe. Its as if they sat back, grooved on all the cool things they were doing for mankind, then Whack! Out of nowhere they clamp on the shackles and yell 'No! You can't do that cuz we said.'

Point taken. It would be great to have a WiFi sync. My point is that most times I want to transfer a large file over to my device (as the OP did) I would prefer to use a faster method because generally I'm in a rush; hence, I was surprised that for this specific scenario the OP wished he could do it over WiFi. I also did not know that the computer and mobile device were in different rooms making it even more interesting.
Wireless sync would be great. I think Apple is slowly getting there though with their recent addition of Home Sharing to iTunes 9 a couple of months ago. Crossing my fingers that wireless syncing comes soon especially now that many people find themselves having not just one but multiple devices they sync with their iTunes (iPhone, iPad, iPod) with, it would be best for this to be able to happen concurrently.

No crap it will hurt mac sales. Apple knew this when they designed this device. People have been trying to replace their computers for years because somehow the computer industry stopped obeying Moore's law back in the 1990's. You know the law, right? Electronics costs and weighs half as much and takes up half as much space roughly every 2 years. For some reason, you can still walk into Best Buy and buy a megalithic computer "tower" box that is mostly filled with hot air. You can do the same at the Apple store only it's called a Mac Pro. Meanwhile music players have gone from "boom boxes" to the Sony walkman to ipod shuffles that are smaller than the batteries used to be for the Sony Walkman. No kidding I want a full computer the size of an iPad. And while I know the iPad is only the first shot being fired in this war, I don't expect to be stuck with "giant iPod touch" capabilities and limitations forever.
One could argue that the Mac Mini cannibalizes Mac Pro sales. If the only way to get my hands on an Apple desktop was for me to buy a Mac Pro, I'd still be running Windows. Apple doesn't really mind cannibalizing Apple sales. They just want to prevent Apple sales from being taken by HP, Dell, Sony and others. Trust me, if a credible Android tablet comes out this summer offering file management, people will be all over it and Apple will give in rather than see people walking from Macbooks to Android tablets. If they are gonna walk anyway, Apple would rather see them walk from Macbooks to iPads.
@Surely, I like to choose the time I get exercise and it rarely coincides with the time I'm trying to get work done on my computer. But thanks anyway.
I'd love to set up my iPhone/iPad to wirelessly sync my latest podcasts and encoded video at 5am each morning so I could just pick it up and go.

I shut off podcast updates in iTunes for precisely this reason. Podcasts should happen seamlessly in the background. I'm tempted to let my MobileMe run out in protest but I doubt Apple would beef it up for one disgruntled user.
Wireless recharging is near to impossible to do, Not to mention, Invent.
As far as I know, There is no *safe* way to transmit electrical power through the air from one point to another.

As far as wireless syncing. Yes, I believe Apple is late to introduce that. Other phones like Palm have wireless bluetooth syncing. So, I am confused as to why Apple disabled wireless syncing on the iPhone, So I hope they will re-enable it sometime in the future.
They could have built in powermat like recharging, but meh, it's not that great, but yes wireless syncing should be possible.

Yes it's N technology but I think the poster was saying it was not acheiving that speed. I'd have to say the same.
Maybe referring to web browsing. HTML rendering is very CPU intensive and as far as CPU's go this thing doesn't have a super powerful one, it just seems fast because the software uses very little resources. HTML rendering is still very taxing.
