Not understanding how email accounts work on iMac in relation to storage quota.

On my iPhone the stock email app doesn’t show much storage usage whatsoever.l around 5meg . Yet, when I add the same accounts and setup the iMac email app it shows as 4.5GB used . Is there a reason for this ?

I’m asking why email with relevant accounts shows at 5meg storage used on my iPhone yet on my imac it shows as 4GB storage used. Cheers.
