I was at a party last weekend where a kid was running visualizer in iTunes on his PC. The PC was in his bedroom and hooked up to the TV in the livingroom. Anyway, he had the visualizer going, but it wasn't full screen, so I asked him where the computer was. I walked into his room, and a few clicks later the picture on his TV was much better! Anyway, he later asked me how I did that, and I told him he just had to make it full screen.

Well, another one of my friends was in the room at the same time and said he won't EVER use an Apple product because they aren't "user friendly." I burst into laughter at his comment and told him he was dumb, because they are MORE user friendly than any PC I have ever touched (and I just got my first mac a month ago today actually). He got PISSED at me and even let the bird fly in my direction when I told him that only an idiot would think Apple products aren't user friendly. Back in the day when I was using my friends G5 to edit videos on, I thought it was a lot harder to use. Since I got my MBP and sat down with it just playing around (and not using it for a specific purpose) I have learned how much easier it is to use OS-X. Everything just makes sense to me. Installing programs is as easy as click and drag most of the time. Things just WORK!

So, I am wondering what do you all think about the "user friendliness" of Apple's products, and I'm not just talking OS-X. He won't even touch an iPod because they are too hard to use. Let's hear it all!

Pretty much the same experience here, so I try to cut people who haven't had a lot of experience using OS X some slack when they're less than impressed by their 10 minutes of doodling with it. :)

I normally do also, but this kid is what we like to call a "prick". It was his, "Apple sucks and is not user friendly, I won't even try to use iTunes" attitude that made me call him out on his stupidity. My friend with the G5, his wife has no clue how to run it. I keep telling her it's simple and to sit down at it for a little bit everyday and she'll be hooked in no time. She just hasn't found that time yet. :D

Well I just read the thread above this one on Apple stores being too crowded these days. I guess we won't have to worry about this guy adding to the problem. :D

I bet it had less to do with the argument and more to do with you calling him dumb

The flying bird part, yes, that was from calling him dumb. I did leave the whole part out where we talked about how I just got an Apple (after he said their stuff was not user friendly) and how easy it was to use. Then he started saying I wasted my money and stuff like that. That's when I said, "if you actually tried using anything Apple you'd see how much more user friendly they are." He said something along the lines of them being useless or something like that. That's when I told him he was an idiot. So, yeah, I did kind of deserve the finger, but still, I don't care about that. I didn't like him that much before, and I still don't like him that much. Maybe if he wasn't so arrogant... :p

If an ipod is too hard for him to use, how can he even use a computer? I think you were pretty accurate to call him an idiot, although still rather unwise. I have always found all of Apple's products to the easiest to use computer/whatever products.
