who cares? i mean, how often do you open preview from the app? i've never had it in the dock; it opens if i double-click an image, a pdf...

i use it to look at the content i open, and don't spend time staring at the icon. but i hear you, that you don't like it...

I agree. First time I installed Big Sur I looked at some of the icons (because there was a lot of chatter about them) and thought, ‘oh, a couple are a bit funky’. After 30 minutes I had moved on. They’re just icons and will probably change over time.

One of the biggest selling points of Big Sur is it's new interface and design. And I have to agree, some of the icons and interface elements are just ugly. Overall it's a step forward, but sometimes I just have to look away. And yes, the Preview icon is one of the issues.

Some of the icons are really old-fashioned looking - A long way from the clean, sleek, modern look Apple were moving towards at one stage.
I thought they were trying to make it more like iPad.....
Well, here's the Keynote Big Sur icon compared to the iPad icon.... I know which I think looks best

Almost as messy as Image Capture.

That said, Icons are the first things Apple will tweak - rather than, say, any issues with the OS or it's apps... 🙄

I positively hate the new icons. Everything was so clean and modern before, and the icons worked better because the details were pared down to what was essential to immediately recognize the app. Now, we're back to the 1990s with busy icons that have needless shading and other wacky additions.
