Hello, I am very frustrated because im trying to transfer some pictures between my iphone 7 (latest iOS 12 version), and in my settings I have the "Automatic" option turned ON for converting HEIC format to JPG when sharing pictures. So, when sharing to my mac via Air Drop I keep getting HEIC format. Any fix for this issue not using 3rd party software? Is it an iOS 12 thing? or a mac os x mojave thing?

I think iOS only converts them if the receiving device doesn't support HEIF.

High Sierra and newer supports the new format, so iOS has no reason to convert it.

as JPack advised, choosing Automatic lets the system determine if the receiving device can display HEIC. if the receiving system can display HEIC then it transfers in HEIC.
it sounds like you dont want HEIC, if so then why not just adjust camera settings to store images in jpg format? Settings>Camera>Formats and then select Most Compatible.

is the HEIC vs JPEG issue for you that when you want to use on yr mac or send from yr mac the images cant be transformed into JPEG format?
macOS can convert to JPEG:

It is very nice to be able to use HEIC on my iphone since all the space saving and compression features. However, its far from being compatible with a lot of devices or apps, even sometimes while
Uploadi g pictures ln a web browser and that makes it a huggeeeeeeee let down for me.

I know preview and several apps can convert to JPG but it would be nice not having to do that every single time, it takes time and complicates things up. I wish that apple adda up a feature on mac to be able to autoconvert pictures qhen uploading to some websites or be able to receive jpg formats from airplay.

Also I guess it’s a Mojave issue since on High Sierra I didnt have this problem. In fact, i did not know about the automatic settings until today
