Hi all,

I got new AirPods Pro 2 on release day. Everything was glorious.

Today, I open my case to put my APP2 in and I get a message on my iPhone:
Not Your AirPods Pro
AirPods Pro not connected to this iPhone.

So, I press Connect and they work. After a while I take them out, go to lunch, put them back in - same message. I'm getting worried, try my iPad - same message.
I reset the APP2 as stated on the support document, reconnect them. Everything seems fine. But as soon as I put them back in the case and take them out again, the message reappears.:eek::eek:

What the heck? What is happening here?

Many thanks for your help!

This sounds like a hardware issue.

My friend's AirPods Pro 1 got ran over by a car, and this happened.
Perhaps, you may need to take it to Apple to get the swapped.

Might sound a stupid question but are you signed out of iCloud on the device you are attempting to use them with?

The only time I've had that message appear was when I paired them with an Apple device I wasn't signed in to iCloud with (even though the APP2s had previously been paired with that device) - I had signed in to iCloud on a 14 Pro, and then tried using AirPods with a 13 mini I wasn't signed in to and that message appeared on the 13 mini.

I would try the following:

1. Sign out of your Apple ID/iCloud on the device you want to pair them with (if you aren't already)
2. Sign back in
3. In Bluetooth settings on the device, click to 'forget' the AirPods if you see them on the list
4. Sign out of your Apple ID/iCloud again
5. Sign back in again
6. Go through the process of pairing the AirPods with the device again

If it still has that 'Not Your AirPods' message it could be that they are still paired with either a different AppleID/iCloud account, or another Apple device you own.

Hello All,

Many thanks for your replies.

I have found out, that this issue only occured AFTER updating my devices to iOS 16.1/iPadOS 16.1 and it keeps happening, HOWEVER once I restarted the respective device, the error is gone again for a while.

Does that indicate it’s software rather than hardware?

I started having the same problem this morning. My 14 pro and APP2 are up to date. Restarting the phone resolved the issue (for how long I don't know). This acts like a software problem.

Oh my lord, I feel terrible to say this, but I’m so glad you @Apple_Robert posted that. The Apple customer service told me I would have been the very first to have these kind of problems and I was just so worried about it.

I’m really not keen on resetting my iPhone with 2 eSIMs or my iPad…

But I find it promising that you think it’s software, I guess? I never bought products on release date and I started regretting it with the 14P and APP2.

I haven't gotten this msg, but now my wife and kids get them if my APPs are close to them at an extended period of time, similar to AirTag tracking. This just started happening a few weeks ago. For the past year I've left work, picked up my wife from work, and then the kids....no tracking msgs...but now it does. yay!

ETA: sorry I don't think this is the same msg....

I still keep getting those messages. Weirdly now so far only on my iPhone 14 Pro.

It drives me mad. Any updates from you @Apple_Robert ? Can I ask if you use carplay maybe? I'm just wondering if that could cause anything or the battery status of either devices... but I can't narrow it down.
