I have only found this specific problem referenced once on the internet, at HackinTosh (without a response). I want to try you guys. Bear with me, it's not the traditional "install this patch" or "change permissions here" fix.

First, background: iPhone running 1.1.4, JB only by ZiPhone, and SMB v3.2.

Second, the problem: For almost every theme, one or two icons is not properly changed (something that every theme should have, such as Phone, Text, or iPod). The twist? It's not a permissions issue, a misplaced directory, but the download is actually missing the .png file. Not even misnamed -- legitimately missing. For example, Louis Mantia - Black is entirely missing the wallpaper file. For those of you concerned, I used WinSCP to move all themes out of root's Library and into mobile's. I also changed the ownership recursively on the SummerBoard folder to "mobile." I also, for kicks, changed the entire SummerBoard folder to "777" recursively as well. I tried re-downloading the theme; it's still missing a wallpaper here, an icon there.

So....what's the deal?
Why is Installer.app not downloading the whole file? More importantly, how can I make it do so, or find these themes to download to my laptop first?

Thanks,
-i

Nobody? At least, does anyone else have this behavior on their iPhones even if you don't have a solution?

First off, I'll apologize for the lack of responses. I know how frustrating it can be.

As for your problem, I have no idea. The absence of advice from members here usually signifies that your problem is unique and nobody has had a similar experience which means, unfortunately, nobody has a solution. Your best bet would be to do a restore and reinstall everything.

Installer sometimes likes to put files where they don't belong. SSH to your iPhone and make sure that the wallpaper files aren't being sent to another directory by accident.

I also apologize for the lack of responses, I just got a change to look at this, and think I have a solution for you.

Im not sure, without looking at your phone's filesystem, what is exactly going on, but i have a few things you can try.

First of all, when it downloaded, you made the right call in moving to to the /mobile/Library/SummerBoard/Themes folder, some repo's have yet to updated to be firmware independent.

Secondly, the workaround I suggest is:

1. Find out which repository is hosting the theme you want, in this case its Nullriver.

2. Go to that source in a web browser, and hit the "View Source" option to get the actual XML structure. [ Nullriver has a PHP bases redirect, so I did it for you ]

3. Do a search for the package you want, and look for the key/string combination for the package you want:

Code:
<key>location</key>
<string>http://something.something/something.zip</string>

[ Again, in this case I did it for you, the location of Louie Mantia (Black) is: http://home.cogeco.ca/~sbtheme/sbtheme-LM-Black.zip ]

4. Copy that url into a web browser or download manager, unpack, and manually copy to your phone/touch.

Good Luck!

Thank you all for your responses. If I have internet access in my hotel tomorrow night, I will try these suggestions. I'll report back on what did (or didn't) work, in case someone else ever has this problem and searches these forums. ;)

Well, I tried a complete restore with no success. The only things I installed were: BSD Subsystem, Open SSH, Summerboard, and various themes. I used WinSCP to SFTP into the phone and saw that some themes were missing .pngs for certain icons, and Louis Mantila - Black is still missing a wallpaper.

Looks like my only solution is to try the last suggestion of getting the themes directly on my laptop and transferring them over.

I have ZERO idea why this is happening or even how this is possible. Am I really the only person with a 1.1.4 ZiPhone JB not downloading all of the files in themes? And why wouldn't a complete restore fix that...

Could not feel ANY more stupid. The themes I was looking at (mostly) are from ipodtouchfans.com...somehow that is part of my source list. Not a big surprise that text, phone, and camera icons are missing.

Still doesn't explain why Louis Mantila - Black is missing wallpaper...but I'm willing to let that one go.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'm not so sure Louie Mantia black has a wallpaper. I just checked on mine and a wallpaper wasn't included on it, either.
