The notch on the 14" MBP largely doesn't bother me. Except for one thing - you lose menu bar real estate. Probably not an issue for most, but if you run something like iStat Menus that takes up a lot of menu bar space, you can easily run out of room.

Unfortunately, this was exacerbated but the change in Big Sur to increase menu bar spacing. I just found Bartender, and it seems to do the job of reducing menu bar icon spacing (right side), but it's $15 and does nothing to the Application menu spacing.

Apple should really add an option to adjust menu bar spacing.

You have two options:

1. For a specific app which has a very long menu, you can right click its .app, click show info, and check "Scale to fit below bulit-in camera"

2. Install SwitchResX, and you will find a standard 16:10 resolution, use that one and you will see that the whole display is rendered below the camera just like a normal 16: 10 screen.
