Note 2 and Other Android users who moved to iPhone

i have a S3 and an iphone 5 that i use daily and i like the iphone 5 better overall. still use the S3 for reading kindle books on crowded subway trains. otherwise i use my iphone 95% of the time.
Note is a different beast. i've thought about getting one but probably won't since i'll have three ipads in the house soon

battery life is much better in iphone ....
there is 5-7 hrs usage and in other phones screen on time is 3-4 hrs max....
i like lcd more than amoled
I just came from an s3 and the iphone 5s is on another world when is comes to speed. The camera isn't better in the day shots but in the night/low light conditions it blow the the s3 out the water. I personally moved cause I like the iMessage and how you can still text if there's no service using wifi. Group messaging is so much better as we'll. I'm getting great battery life and my lte is always on.
Over the years I've moved between Blackberry to iPhones to Android to iPhone to Android (HTC One) to Windows (Nokia 521) and back to iPhone.
They each had their merits. From a pure ease of use standpoint the iPhone is hands down the simplest to learn and operate over time.
Android was very flexible and I love the large screens.
Latest Windows phones work great with my Windows computers running Windows 8.
But the single biggest reason I keep coming back to iPhones even with their limitations and now the very buggy iOS 7 is the fact that my primary computer is a Mac.
While I have Windows computers I use them for specific task related to work and to play computer games. All personal use and any document production is done on the Mac.
The synergy between my Mac environment in most cases makes up for the confusing contact and calendar syncing when using person and office accounts, as well as the lack of a real file system (which is more of an issue on my iPad).
The fingerprint sensor has turned out to be an outstanding addition to my iPhone and makes it much easier to use VPN with forced passcode since I only need my fingerprint.
I do like the bigger screens on Android and Windows devices but the single handed use of the iPhone can come in pretty handy in many situations.
The single biggest gripe is iOS7. It is way buggy and the iMessage bug is the biggest challenge. Also the TomTom App now crashed regularly after 7 was installed.

i have had every iphone since the very first one and no phone has ever tempted me to wanna switch except the note 2....tried it for about 4 months and loved it then realized i was bored with it and wanted to go back to iphone....androids make for a good cheat but apple is my long term
just because the new toy feeling went away and they did lack the quality of apps that the apple store has it felt like any app could get into the android market... apple just has me too invested into them for me to switch to something different for good

This. +1 to u sir. At least someone on this forum knows the difference between usage time and on-screen time. Can't compare those two measurements; it's different. Bc there is no way ur iPhone screen is on for 8+ hours. No way.

Blew my upgrade on the Samsung S3 last year, liked the big screen but nothing else, sold it a month later and back to iPhone. This past June my other line was eligible for upgrade. With a Best Buy deal I got an HTC One for $50 net. Used it for about a month, and again went back to iPhone.
The One's screen and speakers are totally awesome, as is the build quality which is right up there with Apple. But the camera is horrible. I had great hope for this 4MP camera. I've always preferred less quantity and more quality out of camera pixels, and the icing on the cake is the One has optical stabilization on the lens. But HTC couldn't deliver. The 16x9 4MP sensor gives you effectively a 2MP image when you crop to a traditional 4:3 or 3:2. Pictures look very processed when view on the computer screen, and since I"m using almost all the pixels out of an effective 2MP image, it shows all the flaws.
App quality is also no where near Apple's. While many apps takes full advantage of project butter's smooth screen refreshes, many apps are still as jerky as ever when scrolling, such as Google Maps. You can see this even on the iPhone - open Google Maps on your iPhone, pan around. Then open Apple's Maps and pan around. Apple is silky smooth. I am very sensitive to jerky screen movements and will not tolerate it as long as I have a choice. Too many Android apps I've tried are still jerky on the HTC One.
My HTC One has been sitting there for nearly 3 months now. I'm still recharging the thing every 2 to 3 days. Have a look. I don't know how HTC can get away with their 500 hours standby claim
Look at my screen on time, almost zero, yet I have all these awake time. I'm guessing it's Google services doing their thing minding my business That said, I still have the One for now as I really like the hardware, and Android (the OS itself) is very smooth since 4.1. 4.3 is supposed to be released for it in a couple of weeks. I'm hopeful (yet doubtful) that it will bring some improvements to the camera.

In that time I have dabbled with other phones, such as HTC HD1? ,Samsung Omnia 7, Samsung Galaxy and have always gone back to the iPhone.I honestly thought Apple had their hooks in me (maybe the fact I still frequent Apple forums means they do to a degree)
That is until I bought the Note 2 .I love it. I love the screen size, I love the customisation of Android ,I love the fact that I can set default launchers, browsers, email clients etc, but mostly its the screen size.
Dont get me wrong, sometimes I wish it was smaller so I could use it one handed, but nowhere near enough to make me seriously consider spending hundreds of pounds.
To be honest, the least important aspect of the device is the phone/text functions. I want a web browser and a video player, and on an iPhone its just not good, or rather big enough. Maybe thats my dodgy eyes.

Battery life, amazing. Lasts well over a day with, for me at least, heavy usage.Two days, light to moderate usage, although in all honesty, I only tried that a couple of times just to see how it lasted, I usually charge it every night anyway.
Apps? Always get what I need, and that has certainly improved in recent times.Although there is a lot of crap in the marketplace.
Build Quality? Well, its not the most premium feeling phone ,but its not as cheap and nasty as some make it out to be.I have had it for coming up to a year and it is in fantastic condition, certainly better condition than the iPhone 5 I had, which I used only occasionally before passing it on to my daughter.
Saying all that I am still tempted to pick up a 5C ,but then I am tempted by a lot of new phones.Luckily I seem to past the stage where I go out and buy them, only to move them on shortly afterwards.

Moved from a Note 2. I LOVED the giant screen on the note 2, however I find myself enjoying and using the 5s a lot more throughout the day due to the convenience of actually being able to use it with 1 hand.
Camera is better on the 5s. Battery life was only slightly better for me on the Note 2. Im really impressed with the battery life im getting on the 5s. Build quality obviously goes to the 5s as well.

iphone has a much better mail client especially for MS Exchange

the only reason i ever looked at the note was because i like to read and my wife made me leave the ipad at home. so i wanted a bigger screen for reading. once they gave us S3's at work, i started using it as a reader for when i couldn't have my ipad on me.
at this point i mostly see girls with galaxy note's in pink organizer type cases

Been using a note 2 for almost a year now and vowed never to go back to a smaller screen, until I played With the 5s, then went home and ordered one. I do love my Note 2, but miss not being able to use a phone one handed. I am really curious what the new Nexus will bring to the table though. Still waiting for my iPhone order to be processed, so plenty of time to change my mind if something better comes along in the meantime

I went from a iPhone 5 to a GS4 then to an iPhone 5S. I bought the GS4 because I wanted a larger screen and Android users told me the OS didn't have problems anymore. Needless to say the big screen was the only thing I liked about the phone. The camera was garbage unless in perfect conditions. The battery was absolutely dreadful in low reception. I went to vegas and the florida keys with that phone and had to bring multiple backup batteries because it died so much. In the vegas casinos it was a joke. My buddies and their iPhones had no issues. Of course I also had to deal with all kind of lag and bugs with the OS. So I finally decided to root and try some other Roms. I tried stock Android and Cyanogenmod first because I've used them in the past. The camera was actually worse with them because stock android has a horrible built in camera app. I could rarely get the camera to focus unless perfect conditions were met. So then I decided to try showstock which is a modified stock rom. Well since it has touchwiz, it ran like garbage as well. Random lag and crashes. So then I decided to freeze touchwiz and everything else samsung and run Nova launcher like I had on a previous tablet. That actually achieved the best results for me but I still had issues that bothered me and missed things like imessage and what I believe to be better quality apps in the app store.
So here I am using the iPhone 5S now. I absolutely love it! I wish they offered a 128GB option but I make due. The smaller screen doesn't really bother me because I enjoy the OS and the rest of the phone so much. It's a better trade off for me.
Of course most of this is opinion so just try out and pick what you like. Don't let the fanboys on either side decide for you. I made that mistake once. I won't again hopefully lol.
Don't really have any problems with touchwiz on my note 2. Camera is great apart from indoors on white surfaces (pink tint). It's just really bulky and I cant put a case on it because it becomes even more bulky and even heavier. Other than that I really like it!
1 - I really like the bigger screen and that's one of the things I miss the most. As one other reply pointed out apps on the One (e.g. google maps) can be less smooth, but one reason is that it's pushing around MANY more pixels. For the most part it is surprisingly smooth given that, and the screen itself is lovely, both for its ultra-high resolution as well as colors being natural without being oversaturated.
2 - Apps are fairly close. Still a better selection for iOS overall, and as mentioned above apps on both will tend to be smoother on their iOS versions.
3 - iPhone 5S also has better battery life. Android apps are more likely to misbehave and kill battery life, but if you keep a careful eye on what apps are taking more than their share of the battery then the One is decent battery-wise.
4 - iPhone 5S also has a much better camera. I do miss the Zoe (quick little videos) and Highlights features of the HTC one, but slo-mo on the 5S is a lot of fun.
5 - iPhone 5S has slightly better build. The HTC One is excellent, but there are a couple *very minor* imperfections on mine that, from reading forums, are relatively common. In my case the lower lip under the screen juts up the *tiniest* bit from the screen. You can feel it barely, not enough that I bothered to exchange the phone, but it's there.
Things that also make me miss the One: the speakers, widgets, and their news/social aggregator BlinkFeed which I grew to like a lot (much to my surprise).
Overall I'm happy to be using the 5S as my main driver, but if I were forced to go back to the HTC One tomorrow I wouldn't be terribly upset either. For me personally the iPhone 5S has the slight edge overall, but it is slight.
I've tried android a couple times and ultimately went back to iPhone for it's fluidity and refinement. While I adore the larger screens on android for the real estate, it's just not as refined. I even tried out the Nexus 7. Good but not great.

I tried to switch to Android last year after getting bored of iOS, so i bought a second hand HTC Vivid, and i loved it at first, the customization, the OS, all the little differences from iOS. I loved it so much that i considered permanently switching to Android once my contract was due for upgrade.
2 months later, all the little differences started to become very annoying, the battery life was terrible, the OS was sluggish, and the Marketplace was absolutely one of the things i hated the most. So i switched back to iOS and got an iPhone 5 and haven't been happier. The only Android device that has truly tempted me since was the HTC One
I could care less about screen size, the Vivid had a 4.5 inch screen, which isn't THAT big, but at times it almost felt cumbersome, it was a large, heavy phone.
I'm not Anti-Android or Pro-iOS, i just prefer iOS, maybe in a few years i'll look to Android again, but for now i'm happy with my iPhone

If Samsung can figure out a way to offer a larger screen while still giving people the ability to use it one handed, isn't it time to finally admit they're moving faster in the industry than Apple is? Isn't what Samsung is implementing more innovative than Apple just saying "nope, screens shouldn't be that big. Can't be used one handed. The end." ?

Getting a Note 3 as my business phone but iOS devices are just superior due to touch screen response alone.
