Phones Note 2 - What should I expect?

I'm possibly buying a Note 2 tomorrow morning if it's not blacklisted, and I've had an iPhone since 3GS came out. I bought an HTC Aria for a replacement phone before I deployed (2011) and I hated it. I then used my brothers LG Revolution for a month (2011) and I didn't like it as well, battery died in like 4hrs. My question is, what can I expect out of this Note 2 and Android?

The plan on using the Note 2 for creating powerpoints and editing documents. Right now I carry my iPhone 4S and an iPad Mini, I'd take photo's, sync to my Mini and go from there, so I figured I'd knock out 2 birds with one stone, take photo's and create powerpoints on the Note 2, and if needed edit on my iPad Mini when I get home.

1. Is there quick reply?
2. Majority of everyone I know has an iPhone, what's going to happen with iMessage? Any alternatives?
3. I have a Nike Fuelband, there is no app for android, how can I track my usage?

1. What do you mean by quick reply?
2. You can use any sort of IM alternative, but nothing out there ties into iMessage. So unless you're going to get your friends to migrate over to another service you're going to be SOL.

1. There isn't a quick reply option in the stock messaging app, but you can download another app from the Play Store that does have this. Personally, I use Handcent on my S3 and it's always worked great for me. It completely replaces the stock app. Lots of options.

Never heard of quick reply? Being able to text over an app?

From what I understand, as long as you turn iMessage off on the iPhone before switching to the Note, you should be ok. I switch back and forth between my S3 and iPhone 5 all the time and never have any problems with not receiving texts that are sent as iMessages.

Worst case scenario, you'll have to call AT&T and have them manually change the phone on your account.

I actually like both of them. I wish iOS was more open and gave you more choices like Android, but I like the battery life and stability of iOS. However, Android has really caught up to iOS when it comes to stability with Jellybean. And I find the battery life on my S3 to be very acceptable. The battery life on the Note 2 is fantastic, so you shouldn't have any problems there.

Oh man, of that's the case, you're gonna be blown away. It's leaps and bounds ahead of where it was the last time you used it. The Note 2 is amazing (I had one for a few weeks but it turned out to be too big for my taste). Seriously, you're going to be amazed at how far Android has come.

I hope, I seen someone at Disney World recording a video on a ride and it just looked so damn sweet. I think the Note 2 would be perfect. My thumb can reach majority of anywhere on the screen, I don't talk much on my phone.]

What about unlimited data? Can I tether without paying extra?

He doesn't need to have his friends migrate to anything if he doesn't want to. They will get his messages via SMS just fine.

Thanks everyone. I ended up just with the Note to make sure I actually want to fully switch to Android.

My next question is, how do I make sure I receive my emails and texts? I heard iMessage messes that up when switching.

Just make sure you turn imessage off on all of your devices.

You can, just turn it off on the iPhone before you erase it. Make sure in the Message settings of your iPad you uncheck your phone number. For email, just log into email on the Note and it'll work like normal

Sync the contacts to a Gmail account if you have one.

SmoothSync for Contacts and Calendar are two apps that will sync your andorid devices with iCloud. Works great for a mixed house with OSX, iOS and Android devices.
