Was just at best buy and trying to figure out out if this will be my secondary phone to my iPhone 11 Pro. For me personally no matter how many people say they can't tell the difference between WQHD/1080p you 100 percent can . It's a shame cause this phone for this price should . It's a beautiful damn phone but I just can't dish out that amount of money knowing the One Plus 8 Pro can do this . Maybe the Snapdragon 865+ / Exynos 990 is the reason? But if you look up what the 990 is capable of on its spec sheet it lists that it can do 120hz /wqhd

Does this bother you guys as much as it bothers me ? ?

Cheers Guys!!

Nope. The difference between FHD and QHD is a lot smaller than the difference from 60hz to 120hz to me. One plus can do it but the battery life is that awful that it’s not worth using.

Exynos might be a reason why and when the exynos 1000 comes in S21 If samsung allow QHD at 120hz then we will know it’s chip related but i don’t think that’s the main reason here.

Don't we already have a Note 20 Ultra thread? Then for the same reason will that stop you from buying another iPhone?
Because iPhones don't have 120hz at all.

Nope I will be buying the 12 pro max too, but im a big android fan so the 120hz got me excited. No need to be defensive cause my post was never meant for that

we just get a LOT of iPhone fans come in a dump on the latest Android phones because they don't have this or that...but then the iPhone doesn't have that as well.
We see a lot of people hold Android phones to a somehow higher standard than they do their iPhones.
So I'm not being defensive at all. Just want point out the double standard.
Then dude....check before starting another thread....One for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra already exists.

It bothers me a tiny bit, but not enough to sway my decision.
Full disclosure, I only really buy the Note series, this has been the case since the Note 3.
My take is, sure, its a shame the 120hz is limited to 1080p but its not difficult to switch when you need to.
You still get the rest of the benefits of owning a Note, if that is a factor, then its not such a big thing.

The one plus 8 pro seems like a great phone too if the Note isn't your choice, and you'll save some $$$ too.

But no, it doesn't bother me as much as it bothers you.
Just make sure you get the device that doesn't bother you.

Difference between 1080p and WQHD is huge for me. I wouldn't buy the Note 20 becuase of that compromise. When they fix it, I'd consider it. Until then, no way. I'd rather have 60Hz than 1080p personally.

Honestly it was enough for me not to consider it coming from my S20. Resolution is one of those things like refresh rates...some people are just more sensitive to it than others. I can easily tell the difference between 1080 and QHD just like I can tell the difference between 90hz and 120hz. It just depends on how much it will bother you. That said, 120hz > qhd always.

I’m not hung up on resolution AT ALL on a 5-7 inch device. I truly couldn’t care less. I went from a 4K OLED to a 1080P OLED and I’m still good. 4K on a screen that small? Please. 4K usefulness is questionable on 50 inch TVs so on a (relatively) tiny phone screen? Overkill, IMO.

Nor really a Samsung guy so it isn’t an issue for me regardless but no it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.

I would bet it’s more of the fact between 5G and 120hz it’s a choice to save battery life.
